F4U Corsair
I cannot find the words to convey how much I love this classic warbird. In fact, this classic warbird is what got me interested in aviation. It is the only aircraft (in my opinion) that exhibits a graceful elegance when it executes maneuvres. It needs not prove itself, it's mere presence is enough. It is the most beautiful & toughest lady ever built.

"Whispering Death"
U.S. Marines stationed in the Pacific during the Second World War, called the Corsair, "Our Workhorse," while Japanese forces are said to have referred to it as "Whispering Death." Camouflaged in indigo-blue, the plane was likely very difficult to see from the ground only until it was too late for proper implementation of adequate defensive measure. Undoubtedly one of the most "beautiful & toughest" ladies ever built. Maneuverability, strenth, speed, armamentation--this bird arguably had it all. It's haunting to see the plane in such pristine condition once more, almost as if 65 years have suddenly been peeled away. Outside this webpage's photos, this Corsair is the first I've seen in so profoundly good condition since the Korean War. Good work, photographer.

What a plane.
I love this airplane. Best looking airplane and best fighter plane ever made. Everytime I see one I wish i could have flown it in WW2.

It's Whistling Death not Whispering Death
The Japanese named the F4U "Whistling Death" because of the high-pitched sound it made (caused by airflow through the wing-root oil coolers).

Missed theater
I guess P-51 Mustang became more famous than the wonderful F-4U Corsair due to publicity it received during world war II. Most eyes wer focused on Europe where the air was dominated by Mustangs and Thunderbolts of the Army Air Corps during the later parts of the war. If the Corsair had been there, it would have taken the credits it deserved by shooting down Me-109s and FWs just like the way they did to the Japs in the Pacific.

Whistling Death
I've met several pilots of the Corsairs from WW-2, none better, none braver, none finer than these men who took the war to the enemy over the oceans flying from islands and carriers. by far the greates aircraft of WW-2. this is not to take away from any other aircraft or their brave pilots,I envy and honor them all.
we will not forget.
